While you are in San Diego, plan to spend time in the very active downtown area. The Gaslamp Quarter had expanded dramatically to include galleries, shops and some of the best restaurants in San Diego. During baseball season, visit San Diego’s brand new Petco Park, also in the heart of downtown. Seaport Village is just a short walk from downtown with more galleries and a fantastic view of the Coronado Bay bridge. For the best Mexican food San Diego has to offer, visit historic Old Town, just north of downtown, Old Town is where San Diego started. Browse through old style shops and jump on a ghost tour, then relax with the best margarita you’ve ever had.
The areas surrounding San Diego hold much to see and do as well. Coronado island is home to the luxurious Hotel Del Coronado, where movie actors including Marliyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra frequently stayed.
La Jolla has dramatic views and upscale shopping right on the ocean. Enjoy a stroll to La Jolla cove and the seal enclave. Visit the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art as well in downtown La Jolla.
If you are into adventure parks, San Diego packs a punch. Visit SeaWorld, Legoland, Scripps Aquarium and don’t forget the world famous San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park.
